Message from the Chair of CHRN Steering Group

We have already kicked off 2010 with the usual Employment Law Update from Jane Klauber of Russell-Cooke Solicitors and despite the atrocious weather last week many members managed to make it to the NCVO for an excellent overview of the legislation.

Next up we have Helen Giles, who many of you will know was voted HR Director of the Year for the work she has done in building the HR capability at Broadway. She will be talking about this work and the latest thinking on HR Shared Services and Outsourcing on Thursday 18 March at NCVO. This is a great opportunity for all of us to learn from a highly respected practitioner about what scope exists to achieve greater efficiencies from HR so please put this date in your diary. Another diary date is 25 May when the planned speaker will address the topic of recruitment in the modern world.

Later this year we will be running, in conjunction with Russell-Cooke, a conference for the voluntary sector themed ‘A Strategic Approach to HR : Getting the best out of your people in a difficult environment’. The date is Monday 14 June in London and we are keen that as many members as possible attend. Please put this date in your diary and try your level best to come in order to support the network. We are hoping to use the event as an opportunity to attract new members and have worked hard to keep the cost of the conference to a minimum so it should be no more than £150 + VAT per head.
