Membership criteria

The criteria for membership essentially revolves around your organisation having a dedicated HR role/team, who provide practical advice and processes for employees and strategic HR support, with the main contact/member of the network being the most senior HR person within your charity. Our member organisations vary greatly in size, in terms of the number of employees and turnover. There has been a general expectation of at least 100 employees in your organisation (if national), but with our incorporated charity status [January 2022] we aim to support a broader range of charities and the Board of Trustees can consider membership for those with fewer employees. All members must be an organisation registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales.

The annual membership subscription fee, renewed each April, is based on the turnover of your organisation, ranging currently from £156 for charities with a turnover less than £10 million, up to £460 for those with a turnover greater than £75 million.

Associate Membership Agreement [in place from January 2022]. This document details the terms of the relationship when charitable organisations apply for, and are accepted as, associate members of the Charities HR Network (CHRN).
